Yep, Benedict is not like Gackt, or Naka-chan, but there are a lot of Japanese men I like the looks of that don't fit their androgynous ideal, either. (off the top of my head, Ogata Ken, age makes no difference)

I was trying to explain this last night, it's not so much that a face has to be perfect and symmetrical, it's what animates it, after all, and yes, all of us are drawn in many ways to actors because of the person they portray.

But you know my first thought on seeing Benedict in Sherlock, hunched over a microscope? Pretty. And then I thought, oh god I hope he can act because I love Sherlock Holmes and Jeremy Brett and one of the reasons I stopped watching American TV is it's problem casting pretty and not good.

and then Benedict (Sherlock) looks over to Martin (John) and says 'I think flatmates should know the worst about each other' and gives this toothless smile, and I was suddenly relived and gratified - not to mention, you know, HOOKED.

Top Five Anime/Manga Villains

1. MURAKI KAZUTAKA - Yami no Matsuei
My very first anime love, and still the best, unapologetically insane, stylishly swinging around his white duster with his deep voice and molesting hapless Shinigami in between serial killings. Best line ever - after almost being destroyed by his enemy/love interest - "Now I want you even more!"


2. LIGHT YAGAMI - Death Note
Oh you fucker, so sweet and pretty with your red glowing eyes, and narcissistic god complex, I NEVER LIKED LIGHT YAGAMI, but he's captivating, but I want him to die, die, die, or become L's love slave.


3. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO - Gankutsuou
Oh I loved what Gonzo did with one of my favorite novels, the Art- Nouveau-meets-Yellow Submarine styles, he's dark haired, blue skinned with fangs and a beautiful tragic soul beneath the skin. *sigh*


4. MURAMASA - Bleach Anime
Can you see? It's GACKT in his Malice Mizer Days, (auburn hair) and I loved the concept of a part of one's soul becoming realized, and he's so tortured and lost, his power is 'whispering' to your soul to make it split apart, EEEEeeeee and it's one of the few times I loved an ending in an anime. MURAMASA x ICHIGO 4Ever!


5. DIETRICH - Trinity Blood
I love auburn haired bishies, and the Nazi Uniform fetish, and his power of controlling people like puppets, and I can't stand him, hehehe.

Watch this anime, it's not without it's flaws but it does give you ideas, wicked wicked ideas.
