Ficcy and Other Thoughts

I'm craving John and Sherlock casefic. And it's interesting that I woke up this morning back in my casefic DANMARI story - so maybe I'm ready to tackle that again - the premise is Japanese themed (referring to what Sherlock was up to in his 'gap year' in Tokyo) but after the disaster in March, I was too depressed to write anything dark (as that fic will go)

I was enjoying a fic with John and Sherlock - epic length, but there's too much sex. *sigh* Normally I would not complain, but the story has been interesting, up to this point, now it's lagging, (one characters name is a dead giveaway - its the villain in the RJD movie but the story setting is Sherlock BBC) and with S and J hopping into bed in chapter 2 there's only so many times you can have Life Affirming Sex And Tearful Goodbyes until it looses it's um ... poignancy? Is that the word? Maybe we can just say impact.

But yes, will be on the lookout for casefic, if you have any recs, does not have to be slashy. Or humourous fics like the Road Trip series - might have to do a comedy rec list, but it will be short!

Martin's comedy film Swinging With The Finkles is getting panned, but they do say he is good. It's difficult to make a comedy that works, and one reviewer said, British Sex Comedies don't have the impact they used to because everything is overwhelmingly sexualized these days so what was once shocking and/or naughty is now commonplace - I wasn't aware society is more sexualized than it's ever been ... but maybe it creeps up on you?

Second to last day of school, after getting kids on bus it's taking stuff to P.O. At some point need groceries, but in warmer weather, not certain what to make for dinners (gluten free) any ideas?

Hillaire S.–a cheerleader in Texas who was sexually assaulted at 16 by a popular basketball star. She was forced into a dark room and had to be rescued when bystanders heard her crying 'no', the boy fled naked through a broken window. Despite credible eyewitnesses and DNA evidence, the boy was not indited and was allowed to play basketball. (boys pastor was one of the jury)

The school meanwhile, told Hillaire that she should keep a low profile, when she would not cheer for the young man who raped her she was removed from the squad, and when she sued the school, the courts ruled against, and her family now has a $45K bill to the school district. (incidentally, boy was indited for assault (reduced charges) with a second jury, received probation, after all, why should his life be ruined for a 'misunderstanding?')

A painful lesson should be learned here, particularly for the parents who were so afraid of a boy who liked dolls they beat and neglected him as 'therapy.' You can't blame the damage on the doctors if you were the one whipping the boy with a belt.

Incidentally, the man who based all of his later books on his 'study' of Kirk and started a foundation to keep people from becoming gay, took a male escort with him on his last business trip.

The 'Gay Girl from Damacus' Blog False

Tom McMaster, a 40-year-old American made up an Internet blogger named "Amina," who wrote moving and passionate dispatches under the title "A Gay Girl in Damascus." People followed "her;" people believed "her" reportage from Syrias. Now the author tries to apologize ... sort of.

WRONG - YOU DON'T BRING ATTENTION TO A HORRIBLE PROBLEM BY CO-OPTING SOMEONE ELSE's STORY AND MESSAGE.

*additional* It gets creepier, as 'Amina' he had an online romantic relationship a woman who thought he was a) Syrian b) a woman and c) a lesbian.

To create his persona, he used the real photo of a woman from London via Facebook.

Instead of shutting down the blog, he had his persona be kidnapped by security forces, and real people took risks trying to find her. Such an ASSHOLE.

GACKT New video

An interesting concept - Gackt took part a few years back the creation of his own version of the voice synthesizer software Vocaloid, where you can create audio tracks to any song or create your own song with a voice like Gackt's - Gackpoid.

Yamaha, who makes Gackpoid, had a contest to create a song - the winner was chosen by Gackt and the prize was having the song professionaly recorded by him - here is the song, Episode O, with Gackt in character as the mascot for Gackpoid - a purple haired samurai named Kamui Gakupo. (You can see here why Gackt is the model for many characters in Japanese games)
