Remember that communities are for advertising your fics. So, posts should be like commercials.
Make the post easy to scan, many people don't have long to scroll through entries.
Make certain that your post does not have typos, grammatical errors, a post indicates the care you put into your work as a whole.
Make concise summaries. Include ratings, warnings, pairings, word count. Remember that your last post of a WIP may be the first notice someone sees, don't assume they know you or your work.
Never apologize for the quality of your work, it's not going to get people to read.
Don't include notes, shout-outs, thoughts on writing, etc. in your community posts, these are fine for your personal journal and where the story is permanently posted.
Include artwork and headers if they are high-quality, like a book cover, people will stop and read - or scroll past - on quality. Make headers and artwork at 400-450 pixels wide. If you are using artwork and graphics you have not made, you need to of course, ask the person for use of their work b) credit and link to the artist where it is clearly visible to anyone scanning the post.
suggestion: Don't post a series where there are 'chapters' of under 500 words in communities. These are fine for personal journals, - most readers in coms will scroll by, waiting until you post a substantial amount before reading.
