I was very good today and made two pendants of the Blue Phoenix artwork. (Cos I know someone wants one) I've not used dark silver/pewter in a pendant yet and it looks good. I also have to pick up some black ink as well as magenta, (glad I checked the printer display)
Also looked at a preview of Elementary, the CBS Sherlock Holmes, and I suppose it will be as good as any procedural, but even if we didn't have the excellent Sherlock in comparison, this just doesn't seem like Sherlock Holmes to me.
A friend and I were discussing our fave Holmes (Brett) and how he just captivated on screen, his physicality in the role, and that is something that Cumberbatch can do as well. I am reminded of the pilot for Sherlock - Benedict wore jeans and his hair was nondescript and brown and he was ordinary, but when they created the series Sherlock, Benedict was transformed - by his work with Freeman - to be an edgier, darker character - and the dark tailored clothes and the black curly locks and pale skin, helped this Sherlock be more superhuman, commanding your attention, and he was Sherlock Holmes.
Also, from the brief glimpse of Elementary, Liu and Miller are missing the immediate galvanic chemistry of (not only) Cumberbatch and Freeman, but Brett and his two Watsons, Burke and Hardwicke.
I really don't care for a Watson that's not also a solider (hey, women serve too, and it is canon) and the whole 'lost license' thing doesn't bode well for me, because really, you shouldn't practice without one.
