karadinart: (see me feel me gackt by karadin)
at the titles for the next spn episode with Castiel, I was wondering if it came from the song by Supertramp. (yeah, I remember when all the retro rock songs on spn came out)

Goodbye Stranger

You can laugh at my behaviour that'll never bother me
Say the devil is my saviour but I don't pay no heed
And I will go on shining, shining like brand new
I'll never look behind me, my troubles will be few

Goodbye stranger it's been nice, hope you find your paradise
Tried to see your point of view, hope your dreams will all come true
Goodbye Mary, goodbye Jane, will we ever meet again
Feel no sorrow, feel no shame, come tomorrow, feel no pain
One of the appealing things about Supernatural to me is the notion that those who engage in hunting monsters have done so because of a personal tragedy and/or a family legacy. Hunting is not taken up as a lifestyle choice, for personal gain, and it makes those who hunt monsters heroic. Now some monsters, (Also pointed out by Dean) don’t chose what they’ve become, people bitten by werewolves, or changed by vampires, people posessed by demons, even Bobby who was on the verge of becoming a vengeful ghost. I can have sympathy with those creatures and perhaps (re Dean, give them a pass) When they make a character engage with the supernatural out of curiosity, or career advancement (as they did this week with WitchCop) I’m just not invested in what happens to that character. In spn lore to date, the magic powers of witches come from demon deals. If there is to be such a thing in canon as a good witch, they have to make clear how that would work.
