1. Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch was born on July 19, 1976 in London. He is the son of actors Timothy Carlton (Cumberbatch) and Wanda Ventham.
2. He is 6 feet tall. (some sites add half an inch)
3. Attended Harrow and Manchester University, and London Academy of Music and Art on a arts scholarship (painted) and spent his gap year teaching English at a Tibetan Monastery. (!) Studied for Law before deciding to take up family profession of acting.
