I know, and think of all the wonderful original movies that could be made instead. *sigh*

Though I think the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy film will be great, that's not really a remake, as the other version is a tv miniseries.

Movies are so expensive to make these days that none of the big studios want to risk being original. Pretty sad.

And then the studios wonder why people don't go to the cinema any more.

with some of these like 'footloose' it was never the writing or the quality of the acting that made the film somewhat iconic, it was of it's time, mostly the music I think, I don't know that it would grab anyone these days.

I HATE remakes for the most part because they tend to pick films that were already decent or great that do not need revisiting (hello Psycho)

It was just announced they are in discussions to remake The Wild Bunch as well. *heavy sigh*

You know, I would love to see remakes of films that had an interesting premise but were not well made - those would make more engaging remakes!

...My soul died when I saw they're remaking Ghost In The Shell.
Just... that anime is perfect, whyyyyyy?

Remaking Cleopatra? Oh sweet shisus... I don't suppose there's a cast list for that yet?

No idea, sometimes these things are in production hell, they never get to casting, that's true of the Death Note project.
