The Beatles can always be rediscovered
I happened to have the inspiration to do a SHERLOCK Beatles parody pic yesterday (luckily there are fans of both) and I began watching videos, mostly from the era of the film HELP from 1965 - which, despite my age, means they were before me. But my mom and dad had some Beatles records, which I remember playing on one of those plastic-carry case record players, the kind where you needed an adapter to put on a 45 single. (yes, sounds like caveman days to you but not Martin Freeman I suspect) anywhoo.
This was the first record I bought from the local 7-11. (for some reason, at the back of the counter in a glass case they only had two records both Beatles albums, the red compliation and the blue one - and that's the only time I recall a 7-11 having records)
When I was a kid I enjoyed the early Beatles and when I was older could get into 'No.9' *snorfle* I remember standing in front of a neighbors mirror wall and playing 'Beatles' friends were Paul and John, I loved being George or Ringo. (I AND SAW RINGO PERFORM WITH THE BEACH BOYS YES I DID) And of course, we knew songs by heart and would often sing them as we rode bikes or played on jungle gyms (does anyone have these in their backyards anymore that are not wood)
Every once and awhile I'm reminded of the Beatles, a song, or watch one of my fave films 'A Hard Day's Night' and I'm just amazed that THEY WERE ONLY TOGETHER SEVEN YEARS people, they went from 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' to 'The Long and Winding Road' sure, we hear constantly that they changed the face of music, blah blah, but take a moment, step back, watch a video and remember that they were four young incredibly charismatic people, amazingly talented, and their songs are singable, so sing one, you feel better.
Though I have to admit, I'm so glad they came BEFORE internet fandom, hee hee. CAN YOU IMAGINE? (no pun intended)
