Mycroft and Sherlock had a happy home life
Mark Gatiss (Mycroft) says here:
“Yes, but (Sherlock and Mycroft) still can’t get involved (emotionally). They’re not like others, those boys! Although we’ve always thought that actually, rather than being a product of any kind of broken home, they’re probably from a very loving family. A bit like Niles and Frasier Crane - I think there’s possibly a lot of Sherlock and Mycroft in them! But there is a caring side to [Mycroft].”

*tangent* it makes me sigh to see fans spread around pap photos of Ben, or Martin, though I know they will.

I'd imagine raising Mycroft and Sherlock would be a struggle as parents. I like some of the fics I've read around the Holmes family dynamics.
