Ah - this reminds me more of a pietà, than a memento mori. The detached deerstalker is a great manga touch - and I love the pebble border of grave-worms.

I don't know the TV series (though I have now seen 3 episodes on DVD!) but I am curious to know if the coat lining is signicant (probably the answer is "elementary" - it's just hard to see the pattern at this size)

Good luck with the sales! Looks like you know plenty of Sherlock fans who will enjoy this.

It is a Pieta! Micheangelo's pose to be precise, thank you for being the first to notice! The coat lining is only significant in that it is a way of bringing blood into the picture without being obvious. :D

The deerstalker (well, no spoilers, ;D

Can't help it - at the weekend was looking at a trip to Rome with a mate and thought about stuff I thought he ought to see in Rome (I haven't been since 2000) and the MA Pietà was one of those things!

Ah - blood. Yes, well, being cryptic with a coat lining is entirely within character ;=)

The Rome holiday planning (didn't come to anything concrete! But that's another story) was born of a RL frustration. Don't know if you saw my latest entry on my LJ:

Drove me to drink one day, and to Rome (in spirit) the next!

I'm sorry Rome didn't work out! Speaking of Italy, I would love to go to the Amalfi Coast one day. Hey, I gotta talk to you about Shinsengumi sometime, my original work has to do with them, I figure you are the go-to guy!

Rome might happen yet! It just wasn't built in a day ha ha

Oh, I'm happy to talk SSG but you're surrounded by SSG experts - mirien, midori, ashura_oh, excused_early to name but four! I'm impressed and intrigued that you're picking an SSG angle: lots and lots of possibilities there.
