Well the first time the Americans took a stab at a Sherlock Holmes TV series it wasn't too bad, I still enjoy the Ronald Howard ones. Some of the 39 episodes they made were quite fun, even if they were out of context and silly like Sherlock investigating Texas Cowgirls.

I guess it depends exactly HOW modern they will make it, modern for context and freshness or modern because it will sell and it's easier than getting period locations in the US. Hey because it's 2012 we will make sure we have plenty of minorities, a coffee shop set, a token alternative chick, and plenty of relevant puns with modern street language. "Hey Sherlock, you izz smarter than Google dude!"
