I was just reading a friends blog, and they mentioned going to a reunion and trying not to jump to immediately thinking about how other people are thinner, have more money, are married or single, etc.

And I thought, THANK GOD I no longer give a crap about what other people do. Looking at someone who is outwardly successful and comparing them to your own personal situation is absurd, you can't see their anxieties, there isn't a position of a start point, where you and this other person came from the same background or opportunity. Where does looking at everything as a competition get you but depression and anxiety?

You can compete with yourself, you can tell yourself to be 'better, stronger, faster' but you aren't going to get there looking at what other people apparently 'have' that you do not.
