I would say right now there may be more women readers of sci-fi than men. However, if you went back 25 years, I'm sure you'd find far more male readers. A lot of sci-fi in the 50s and 60s was basically "space cowboys," without much character development. My sense it that shifted in the 70s.

I think it's not a good idea to lump together the sci-fi and fantasy genres, because I'm sure that there are more women readers of fantasy than men. Men in general read less than women, you can find various studies on the web. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=14175229
