Methinks we will never see an Irene as fantastic (meaning close to the book) as in the Granada Holmes series, and in particular, the last three Irene actresses (in RDJ films, Sherlock and now Elementary) look very similar to each other. As book Irene was a Jersey girl, and an opera singer, my headcanon Irene is Queen Latifah. *sigh*

YES! I completely agree; she looks very similar to Queen Latifah in my mind, too. Quite the diva and manages to outsmart Holmes to get what she wants!

Seeing they went outside the box on most of the show (setting in NY, female Watson) it's a disappointment to see the same ol same ol with Irene.
