I know they had to pad to get hobbit to three films, but I don't want the narrative to move from the dwarves, the hobbit, gandalf. Having more of the White Council makes sense, removing the menace from Dol Guldur, (sorry if misspelled) to tie in to LOTR. But the issue with having Legolas featured so much, he has to stay antagonistic to the dwarves throughout, to make his entrance into LOTR (and bond with Gimli) make sense. Also, were those elves we saw trying to hunt the dwarves in the barrels? That element does not make much sense to me, in general, I've not bonded too much with Elves in Tolkien because they are depicted as superhuman, maybe that's why when I real Silmarillion, I like the Noldor, cos man, did they have some major fuckups, I can relate to those characters, yeah? I'm sort of ambivalent about Tauriel (sorry if spelled wrong) but not liking her so much here ... at first glimpse ... maybe it's the red hair ... not that I'm against ginger, but I'm still annoyed that they made Legolas (and his Silvan kin) with BLOND hair. (rantlet over)

I was also hoping Smaug would either be more catlike, or more like a long snouted norse dragon with horns, this beast not what I pictured for Smaug.
