It's not my story but from the Clients from Hell blog, but I'd still not 'take pictures and hold them hostage' because this sort of person would never be satisfied, they'd still be trying to 'work a deal' plus the fact they were proud of being an asshole, now they are out a photographer on the wedding day, maybe it's a lesson learned.
Also, he didn't have the equipment or assistant he may have needed, might never be compensated for time and materials, and he might have scheduled other clients that day.
