Tease

Bob Singer stated at Comic con that Supernatural is going to get a spin off - featuring a brand new character never introduced - which will show up in episode 20 of SPN. Now, last season it seemed a few ideas were being floated, because some of the monsters of the week were not killed by Sam and Dean, but they were attempting to broaden the Supernatural universe, with the exception of one idea (created by Ben Edlund, of a young Jewish man and his Golem) the rest were abysmal. (baby werewolves, teen hunters and the excerable male witchcop with his female familiar in a studded diamond collar.)

Oh for the days when they were floating around an idea of hunters in the Old West, that I think fans would have jumped at. Apparently, while part of the appeal of SPN has always been the boys travelling around the US in their classic car, the new series will have an 'urban' feel. If I watch will all depend on that spin off ep. I'd be more comfortable if it was written by Ben Edlund, but he was stolen away by Kripke to bolster the ratings- successful (but not developing a fanbase) Revolution.

The greatest appeal of SPN was it's style, and the idea of urban legends, which quickly became about the bros, Sam and Dean, and the lightning in a bottle chemistry of Jared and Jensen, (and incidentally lighting in a bottle twice with Jensen and Misha) without them, there isn't a show. The boys want to get to season ten before calling it a day. I believe that Misha Collins (now a regular in season nine) would not want to carry a series without J2, but might be happy in 'consummate guest star' role. For certain, any guest shot by him would drive ratings up (as they did in seasons six, seven and eight)

And in other news, USWeekly is sayin there is a second baby on the way for Jared and Gen, their son Thomas is now 16 months old (and toddling after Daddy at Comicon)
Nothing that's really not what you were thinking re:setup from season eight, so far there are about eight scripts out there, they are shooting their first episode (but shooting order does not match airing schedule, due to actor's other commitments)
