Andrew Dabb implies that we are getting something new and different if we get ‘demon Dean’ in season ten. But we had demon Dean in season 3, 4, 5 ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’ ’On The Head of A Pin’ ‘The End’ so it’s not so new and different, except that Dean’s not suffering because of Sammy, or torturing for Heaven, or succumbing to despair.
We now get Dean taking on the Mark of Cain to kill Abbadon … er, why is she the main target? not Gadreel, not Metatron? Way, way back in the season we saw an Abbadon who was eager to possess Dean, as former vessel of an Archangel, and while having an Abbadon + Dean alliance of some sort would be an intriguing idea, why so clunky show? Why not show a bunch of episodes across the season with Abbadon attempting to woo Dean to her side, instead of Crowley? (not that I dislike Crowley by any means)
Now, say that Dean and Abbadon team up, to whatever, who’s supposed to go save Dean? Castiel’s been given angeling distractions (per usual, off screen) and Sam’s spent half the season passed out, or pissed off at Dean. While it would be a nice change for Sam to do the saving, instead of having to be saved, with his lasting words being ‘we are partners, but not brothers’ and Dean saying ‘oh you wouldn’t do the same for me (save me) in the last episode, they haven’t set up this scenario very well. so maybe it’s Team Free Dean, Crowley (for reasons) Sam and Castiel.
show has some great season enders, but rarely do they show their promise *see Cas being God for one ep, how closing the gates of Hell ended, and how ultimately underwhelming the angels falling from Heaven became.
