HEY SHERLOCK FANS! - Check out Mr. Brain!

Mr. BRAIN - The highlight of my tv viewing (I only watch maybe one or two shows a year) of 2009, in the top 5 best-rated and award winning dramas with a cast and guest stars from Japanese drama and film. Very accessible and enjoyable with English subtitles! Even though the setting is a high-tech foresics lab, it's not a CSI style drama, the main character solves puzzles using his intellect.

Like BBC's Sherlock it's high-production value, stylish, witty, with a cast of interesting characters, difficult puzzles, with great acting and writing. 8 eps, and hopefully one day, they will make more.

Tsukumo Ryusuke (played by superstar Kimura Takuya) is a quirky, brilliant neuroscientist working for the National Research Institute of Police Science Tokyo. Wielding a unique perspective and psychology, going head-to-head with the most brilliant and twisted criminal minds. Yet his eccentricities and poor social timing can also aggravate people and circumstances!

Did I mention GACKT as serial killing cannibal in part 2?

Ah, it might be time to watch that again. Also, Gackt was completely enjoyable to watch in the second episode. You could tell he was having so much fun in his role.

Yep, you could say he ate it up.

Hah looks really good! And Gackt looks SCARY!

I'm glad I'm watching it again! I think there were so many big name stars in it they couldn't do a longer series, but I want it to come back!

I've never heard of this show before; just watched a 5 minute trailer of episode 2 (the Gackt episode!) and will definetly be grabbing it. And hopefully it may also help to bring back/improve my rapidly failing Japanese!

Enjoy! But of course now I am thinking of a Sherlock-Mr.Brain crossover, oh, Sherlock and Tsukumo in the same room ...

Thanks for the rec!

Ah!!! I saw this early last year! I loved it!!!

And episode two is my favorite; Gackt, for one reason, and for another, my friend now winces whenever she hears a crunching sound (because of episode two), so I eat celery around her every chance I get. ^_^

Fun series, and I actually learned a few things about the brain in the process. ^_________^

After seeing this rec I finally decided to give it a try. It's AWESOME! After about 10 minutes I was totally hooked. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for some decent TV watching. :D
