Does anyone know why

LIVEJOURNAL is now making certain that each community has a designated 'owner' - not merely people who mod or maintain?

I heard, but this is hearsay, that it's because of comms where one mod kicks out the others, comms where mods go AWOL, and so on.

Ah, well I know it happens where one mod kicks out another (luckily, never to me!)

eh. but what if that designated owner leaves the com? will lj recognize another owner?

no idea!

so far all I understood is that they are only doing that to show that there mus be only one owner and all the others just helping.....guess

No idea, but it did make me remember I had about half a dozen comms under my old LJ name that I forgot about *lol*

I saw this and given I am co-md to several communities, I have no idea what will happen. Jumperslash has 4 mods including the original comm creator, but I've been mod for 3 years now and the others have no interaction with the comm.

I saw something about voting and the like as well?

As always, LJ is doing something without thinking it through. If this is about dead comms, then they could just send emails to the listed mods saying "Hey, your comm will be deleted in 30 days unless you reply." I do hate the number of dead comms that are around.

I thought lj gave a warning last year about deleting coms with no activity for a year. But I guess this is about when one mod kicks out the others ...
