Not familiar with the fandom, but don't need to be, with faces like that. This is lovely! I'm loving the background and their poses, omg.

Thank you! This is Jeremy Brett, who played Sherlock Holmes from 1984-1995 and Benedict Cumberbatch who is playing Sherlock Holmes right now!

Very nice! I finally watched the first episode of Sherlock and loved it. I need to get the rest of the series.

If you haven't yet, IMO you need to see the Brett series (Granada TV) too, seriously. Different, as it sticks to canon like burrs on a country dog, but fabulous both as period drama and for Holmes and (two sterling) Watsons...

Brett got two great Watsons, lucky man.

Oh yes, I love the original stories and the Brett series. Because I am so fond of the canon and all the period details, I was not sure if the new Sherlock would be any good. In fact I was deliberately avoiding it until BBC America sent me a free screener. I was very happily surprised!

You should trust me! ;D

I'm so in love with Brett, I was surprised to find I adored Benedict so much in the role - my worry was he was too pretty at first, then, oh thank god he can act.

But so much of the charm in Sherlock is MARTIN FREEMAN as Watson, it really is a duo there. *cuddle cuddle cuddle* and you really think that Freeman's Watson would kill you, ahaha.

I find BC's looks to be so striking that 'pretty' isn't it (he pushes no buttons for me, personally, but they really are striking) I looked and I stayed for the stories, scripts (ep 2 excepted, yuk) and performances; entirely agree Freeman's Watson is fab - best role I've seen him in, including The Office.

Well, he's certainly not cookie-cutter cute, and perhaps it was the first glimpse of curly hair and petulant lips, my pretty is not everyone's pretty I'm afraid!

I've only got a short in my head--probably a bit erotic (never thought I do that with them, but...).

I suspect yours will be more graceful.

Oh that's lovely, so decadent! I love the colours you used in the background, it reminds me of those louche old Victorian theatres. And the William Morris-esque wallpaper design, and the border that's very Victorian in its colours. Lovely composition of the figures, too, with Benedict's robe having that brightness to it that makes the picture really pop. I think Jeremy is my favourite here - you really nailed his expression with that lifted eyebrow! I had such a crush on him when I was a teenager LOL (randomly, one of the bosses at work wrote a controversial biography of Jeremy Brett).

Great work, and I agree with the other person who said this is your best work to date. The background and placement of the figures against it really does it for me. Fantastic.

Thank you so much, I'm happy with this and it's a rare thing, I'm glad you kind of get past my own 'stop' that I should only use a few patterns and colors, it is a beast to get the foreground and background to work together so the image does not look like an animation cell.

Seimei Hiromasa soon, I hope! I was inspired to do a pic with a fan because of your story.

why did Mansai's new drama get delayed?

(no subject)

Date: 2011-05-28 05:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] glitterburn.livejournal.com
There's a scene in the film where Hideyoshi's troops dam all the rivers in the marshland where Mansai's castle stands, and they smash the dams at the same time and a great rush of water sweeps away people, livestock, buildings etc. Understandably this is far too close to what happened with the tsunami so they decided to delay the film until it's less painful for viewers.
