Fandom and Fic Rec - Correspondance

glitterburn  is one of my favourite authors, and by authors I mean author of anything, fanfic or original fic, her characterizations are exquisite and deft, like calligraphic paintings, and her world building some of the best I've ever read (and I read Tolkien) you can just sink into these tales of ancient Japan, or China or futureistic stories like warm bath water, effortlessly. And she can create a scene of stunning eroticism with the merest glance between partners.

*ahem - composes self* She wrote me a gift fic with my favourite pair from the film (and manga and books) Onmyoji which feature the famous Japanese Heian Court astrologist Abe no Seimei (think of him as sort of an Eastern Merlin in terms of his supernatural abilities and the myths that have surrounded him, though he was undoubtledly a real person)

In the Onmyoji tales, Seimei is cast in the model of detective, using his powers to help solve cases of possession and to hunt demons, and these stories are based in part on Sherlock Holmes, as Seimei is given as his Dr.Watson, the nobleman and courtier Hiromasa.

You may read the fic without knowing the fandom, just know it is set in the Japan of 1,000 years ago, but if you adore Sherlock Holmes, you'd enjoy the Onmyoji films, as actor Mansai Nomura is as compelling as Benedict Cumberbatch and Jeremy Brett are in their portrayals.
