Boggles the Mind - Michelle Bachmann's clinic tries to 'pray away the gay'

There's been a surprising lack of reporting Michelle Bachmann's racist, homophobic and plain idiotic statements in the press lately, but thankfully, ABC news reports on the clinic run by Bachmann and her spouse, who advocate that homosexuals be encouraged to pray so they can become attracted to members of the opposite sex.

Bachmann is no stranger to anti-gay rhetoric. Her strategist-husband last year said homosexuals were ' barbarians who need to be disciplined.'

Of course, this may just win her more of the right-wing vote.

BY THE WAY - Michele Bachmann signed a controversial pact Thursday that is anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-pornography, and floats the curious notion that African American children were better off during slavery than they are under the Obama administration.

Twists my stomach. I've read accounts of these clinics, and of the camps run along similar lines, and they hurt my heart. Rather than heal what they perceive to be "damage," they *cause* tons of it.

Yup. I don't know why the Republicans are not hanging their heads in shame that these candidates are the best they can get. The idea that they would even be in the running, even ten years ago would have been ludicrous.

The only thing that I sort of hopes comes of this is that they all eat each other alive in the primaries and, resultantly, don't produce a terribly viable candidate. Certain factions of the Republican party have grown so extremist (and loud) that they have to pander to them now to get elected.

I do sort of pity moderate/centrist Republicans; I think they're a dying breed.

Yep, already Pawlenty is gouging at Bachmann, which I don't think is a good strategy for him, but if they rip into each other this early, it's only good for Obama.

I am so angry I can't breathe.

Oh, and don't forget that she's been quoted as saying that she follows the belief in the bible that all good women bow down to their husbands and obey them, to the point that she became a tax lawyer on his say so, which calls into question just who the hell you'd be electing if you voted for her.

I know all about her, she's from my state, and we would have gotten rid of her awhile back but for gerrymandering.

This makes me feel ill, as well as angry. She is a very, very scary (as well as bigoted)woman, I sincerely hope her campaign runs out of steam soon.

In a way, it's good shes declared herself this early, gives her more time to put her foot in her mouth - I hear that the 'clinic' she and spouse were running has already closed, so there's a plus!
