Subscribers Edition 1926 - Seven Pillars of Wisdom - T.E.Lawrence

okay, maybe not this edition, it's worth a bit more than my house, I'd have to have more than a million to justify buying it. ;D

But if I had to say which is my favourite book of his, it's The Mint. I have copies of all his books, and some of the first edition public printings, (I was extremely lucky because some TEL fan had purchased all the first editions of books by him and about him from the 30's to the 50's, and they were in my uni library, but only a few people had ever checked them out, and they sold the lot to me (about a dozen books) for just $12 dollars) WIN. I can never have too many (good) books about Ned, alas, most of the bios are crap crap crap.

But if you are looking for high quality re-printings of his work, best go here:

This is my treasure: an Iconography of T.E.Lawrence - a book consisting of quality reproductions of every known portrait of Ned, limited edition of 1,000 signed by author, and I have copy no.15

Oh DUH, my copy of a book on the making of the Lawrence of Arabia film signed by Peter O'Toole. That's the other one.

If I had a lot of money I'd buy SP first edition, too, just for the Kenningtons. The Mint is also my favourite, though I'm very fond of his translation of the Odyssey. My Grosvenor is no.429! But I think my best-ever Lawrentian find was Williamson's Genius of Friendship, which I found in a second-hand book shop for £3.

Yep, though I had to inter-library loan it when I was at uni because it was so hard to track down! A friend in Paris managed to find me a copy of Le Corbeau's original (unfortunately it's in terrible condition), so I could compare the translation. Looking at the Castle Hill Press site I see they've done a parallel text version - too expensive for me!
