We had lots of fun! And so many people knew they were Sherlock and John! Though one person told my daughter that she preferred Jeremy Brett to 'new' Sherlock, luckily daughter was not offended but said 'I love him too!'

*edit* I didn't think I had to add this, but since people have asked, the 13 year old used a non-permanent hair dye at her own request. (in response to the why are they hugging comments) This is a brother and sister pair, the younger boy is on the autism spectrum with adhd, in public spaces he can become overwhelmed, and hand holding and hugs calm him, his older sister loves him very much and takes very good care of him. She says, John and Sherlock are best friends, just like my brother and I.

Yeah, I think so too! Even the little boy said he wanted his hair dyed black, we said no, he didn't seem too fussed about it.

I have found that a bit odd, I was careful to state brother and sister in pic, and didn't put in any of the kissing each other pics! We always have those.

Well, there were times my sibs and I didn't get along, but as adults we hang out and go on vacations now, so it might change.

And I don't mind people liking Jeremey better, he's my fave Holmes (he and Ben neck and neck) but to say that to a kid is a bit naff!

someone was saying too bad I made my kids wear certain costumes, I'd like to see them try to get my kids to do something they don't want to - guess it's someone annoyed that their parents didn't help them with their halloween costumes!

Wow! The costumes came out great! And you didn't have to do much (if any)sewing. They *do* look exactly like Sherlock and Holmes. And they played the part just right. My, how they've grown. I hope they had a good time tonight getting their treats - they really deserved it. And you too for pulling it all together so well. Thanks for sharing this wonderful time with your kids with us in LJ land. You must be incredibly proud of them.

They had fun, that's the main thing, I like to enable whatever they want for Halloween cos that's something my mom did for me, make really elaborate costumes, sort of a shame the whole cosplay trend missed me by oh, fifteen years. Wonder if it will still be going when kids are in college or they will say, been there, done that.
