one of the best flash mobs I've ever seen, the Opera Company of Philidelphia with local choirs from universities, high Schools, churches along with the Philadelphia Pride and Gay Men's Choruses.

That makes me proud to live near Philadelphia. Random Act of Culture!

When I was in high school (in MA), my choir ( which was huge compared to the school's population, about 10 percent) every year in December and April would sing a selection from Handel's Messiah. By the time one graduated, one had sung every full-choir part to the Messiah. But every year we did this chorus. So this brings back many memories.
And one need not believe the words to appreciate the genius of the music and the joy encapsulated by it.

well yes, I also learned Handel's Messiah in school, and I'm a Secular Humanist with Buddhist/Shinto leanings if I had to give myself a category, but the music still gives me chills.

I know there is a Messiah sing-along held in my city, I should check on it, the kids might like it too.

Sounds like fun. My boys are a bit young and wiggly yet for that, but someday... Well maybe.
