Stopped at the pet store today to get some things and as we were walking in..out walks Sherlock.
Both Rhi and I stopped and did a double take. Literally, this man looked like Benedict, but shorter and more shorter hair, but he had the coat and the scarf and the swanky duds beneath. He went past, said, "Excuse me." with a smile and twinkly eyes and left us both with our jaws on the pavement.
Kind of an odd mother/daughter bonding moment, but still one none the less. *L*
It's very annoying. I feel like the only option I have left to me is to sit consumed with frustration forever. The only comfort is that it's like me and Every Other Person on the internet.
"Series co-creator Steven Moffat said he had given Holmes an overtly sexual sparring partner to scotch speculation about a homosexual undercurrent to the relationship between him and Dr John Watson, played by Martin Freeman."
I think it depends if you think their relationship as a pairing could actually happen.
As much as I don't give a rolling fig for anyone's sexual preference, I simply can't see Holmes/Watson as anything more than wishful AU thinking for fic readers delectation. I can't see it myself, but I totally get how much people can enjoy the coupling with so many good things going for their relationship. I guess because I grew up with the image of John being a total fanny magnet in the army (mentioned in the books several times) and then when he left the military and failing at long term quality relationships because he let Holmes suck up his time/be a conduit for bringing in damsels in distress until he met Mary.
To be perfectly honest, I never slashed Holmes/Watson until this series, the chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and yes, very much not-sexual!
And I very much get why people say Ben and Martin (as individuals) are not attractive, not in a conventional sense, but I like them so much better because they are unconventional.
