COMPASSION - Aid to Japan by Karadin

this image was created last year to help raise funds for Japan in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami of 3/11/11 - the figure is Senju Kannon, the Buddhist deity of Compassion, who hears the cries of the world and stretches out his arms to assist. Each hand of the image bears the symbol of each of the 47 prefectures of Japan. The figure also bears native Shinto symbols of the solar disc and the jewel around his neck is one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan. The phoenix represents resilience and rebirth.
