I don't mind the fighting so much as I feel nothing has been resolved. Dean looked broken and tired afterward. No life in his eyes. Made me feel the same way. Sam seemed to feel it was fine to threaten Benny and hold that threat over Deans head. Made me tired and I don't know how they are supposed to move past this. Dean doesn't understand Sams motives any more now than he did before their fight. Heck I don't.
I feel its a placeholder because it didn't move us forward (granted I missed the first ten min because of work) we knew Dean held grudges (and pain) and Sam was hurt, so they got it all out, I was sort of glad that Sam came back at Dean and didn't just take the verbal beating, but man, that was PAINFUL to watch.
