my grandmother used to have a Kit Kat clock, the eyes move back and forth and the tail wags! And I used to watch it constantly. These were designed in the 30's and the same company has continued to make them ever since. You can purchase them in many different colours, this is the one I'm getting to go in my kitchen - which I'm redoing in yellow and blue with a retro style.

My grandma actually had a jewelled cat, but I'm going with the classic, my daughter however, might go with the flamingo pink jeweled model.

You can find vintage clocks pretty much everywhere, but the older models have electric cords, so I'm glad the new versions have batteries, and you can always get replacement parts and upgrades (and even mini cats for your desk with clear lucite stands!

As I recall, some of them tick-tock, and I don't want to hear that. Otherwise, I like them.

For a blue/yellow kitchen, you might think about some portuguese tiles, maybe as a backsplash or a few over a door.

I don't want to invest much in this kitched deco, because in a few years we will take down a wall and combine the kitchen with the not much used dining room. So for right now, with the retro look, lino commercial vinyl titles in blue and yellow in a checkboard pattern. Then just painting cabinets, replacing hardware and getting new (but inexpensive) white appliances. The fridge and stove I have now came with the house and are probably vintage 80s.

Combining kitchen and dining room is probably a smart move - my dining room has become an office. I hope to move in about 2 years, and I fear I'll have to go with expensive appliances to compete in this market.

Oh nice thing about the new clocks, you can set how it sounds, even to how fast the eyes move and the tail, etc.

WOOT! I totally remember those and I LOVED them as a kid!

I have a Boondock Saints wall clock which Sulla gave me as a gift and it matches the living room. But now I want the cat clock too!
