It was a bit interesting in season eight when we discovered both angels and reapers could be bought. It made sense for a reaper to make a deal with the Winchesters, because they go beyond the rules and are the protagonists. But a problem with having Reapers to bribe, it implies that Death is not the all powerful creature we supposed him to be. We knew that Reapers could be killed with Death’s scythe, but that they can be killed with angel blades? Also, the Reaper possessed April, do they need consent? As far as I know, Reapers do not need vessels, Tessa had the appearance of a young woman from the hospital when she first appeared, but it was never stated she was possessing anyone.

Logic fail came about because Cas is still an accepting noob, when you think, after all he’s been through, he’d be wary of a woman taking him in, and yes, sleeping with him. Opportunities for good storytelling and development lost. Why couldn’t April be human meeting Cas, and then be taken over after they became intimate? Why would a Reaper be attracted to Cas in the first place? Why is it so important to get Castiel’s virginity ‘out of the way’ when they could have built this up over a small arc. I don’t think anyone who is a fan of Castiel, or even Destiel fans were happy with this (even though Dean gets to stab the Reaper)

And then, after all this, kicking Castiel out of the bunker? Not giving him even the I-am-a-danger-to-you self sacrifice angle they could have played (which would have been in character) instead of yet another blundering plot device, at the end of the episode all we are left with are questions. Bart is not as engaging a villain as Naomi was last season. *sigh*

Good points: Misha. The scenes showing how bad angels can be, imploding vessels, idea of using evangelists to prepare people for accepting angels, Jared’s getting used to playing as Zeke, Jensen.

Just like "Taxi Driver" where Sam goes into Hell to rescue Bobby, there is SO MUCH about this episode that has gigantic holes, a few of which you pointed out. They never quite explained how Reapers were able to find Cas after Bart sent the other Reaper to follow Dean and Sam. She just happened upon Cas outside the place where she worked? Or did I miss something? He's shielded from angels and Reapers need to follow Dean and Sam, but April the Reaper can magically stumble onto him? Argh, it's very frustrating.

Also, we know Cas has watched over Dean and Sam multiple times, and he even PICKED UP DEAN'S TOOTHBRUSH in "Hunteri Heroici" so why in the hell do they keep writing him as completely oblivious to human nature? Sure, I get the peeing thing is new to him, but this making him inept at stuff I'm sure he's seen in the past is annoying.

This is one of those eps like "Taxi Driver" in which someone needed to sit down and point out the numerous inconsistencies.

I wouldn't have minded to see April a little more, She held her own in the scenes with Misha. Of course, I feel that the entire reason she had sex with him so that they could use that shitty "way to go bro" line at the end with Dean cheering Cas on. Ugh.

She certainly did a 180, all nice and sweet, then all evil, it would have made sense if she was possessed in the morning, but oh no she was a reaper all along. (?)

Carver mentioned having a continuity person last season (really? who could tell?) I guess they are at the same stage, but HONESTLY, fans know their canon, you can't just play so loose and sloppy with it.

Incidentally, I would LOVE a return to the look of the first two seasons when they shot on film, more dark and monochromatic and gritty, it would add to the realism.

They will never return to that dark, moody look of early seasons, since I think a lot of it had to do with Kim Manners' direction. He basically turned the early seasons into part 2 of The X-Files.

Argh, I watched the ending again today too, and it's written so OOC I can't even stand it. Castiel's lines sound like they came from badfic.

Oh, OH, and also, at the end Dean tells Samzekiel that the bunker is safe and that Cas is protected because he's warded in Enochian sigils. And then Samzekiel says that he was warded when April found him, and JUST A MINUTE, April was a *Reaper*, not an angel, so she wouldn't count anyway! UGH the plot holes, they burn!
