I don't really have a single favourite - I have several rings and earrings with amethyst, because I love purple, but I also really like garnets for that rich red. Garnets are interesting as their colour changes according to what's backing the stone - witness the way the Anglo Saxons got them to really glow with a textured gold underneath the flat cut stone. I do have a preference for cabochon stones.
So, I'm only a couple weeks late (story of my life, really). I really like iolite. It's also called water sapphire and Vikings' compass. I like the idea of your cards. Always enjoy seeing your work. :-)
