They finally finished all the insulation work on my house (2 1/2 weeks)
I have an intestinal bug, and because of this everyone had to stay home (cos I transport them to school and work daily)
Yesterday GiveCaptainAmericaABoyFriend was trending worldwide, and BBC3 was even making Stucky videos, while Skytv was countering with Stony posts
Today it is revealed that Marvel will retcon Captain Americas entire history to make him a secret Hydra Operative, which shits on Steve, and the Jewish men who created him to fight Nazis in WW2.
It's even gotten to the point that some fanboys are trying to deny that Hydra was ever part of the Nazi movement in the comics (they were) and it's just some other secret society. I know the trend at Marvel was to make first Spider Man, and then Iron Man 'evil' for a comic run, it's one of those typical 'stunt' arcs, and I guess they've decided it's Steve's turn. BUT COME ON.
Already people despise it, and CapIsNotHydra is trending. Well, Marvel got it's publicity, but how could someone like me who loves MCU STeve, ever want to go pick up a comic now?

Date: 2016-05-25 08:06 pm (UTC)Give Cap a boyfriend, meaning make him gay or bi in the movies and/or comics? Are they serious? I love to read slash and subtext as much as the next fan, but making it canon? I will never understand this trend lately of fans thinking they can make demands about how canon stories will go, especially when they think they can insist a character who's been one sexual orientation from inception suddenly become another. Imagine the furor if they tried to reboot Northstar or Batwoman as straight at this point, just because some fans would like to see that. I don't care how hot it is to imagine Cap with Bucky, Tony, Sam, or anyone else, and I don't care how much it's teased in promotions. Marvel doesn't owe it to us to basically legitimize slash pairings. Besides, wouldn't picking one guy for Cap just piss off the fans of all the other boyfriend prospects?
I remember reading about a Cap comic where he runs into a gay character, and instead of having the reaction one might expect a man from the 1940s to have, Cap told the guy that his love for his partner was, in Cap's opinion, every bit as real as Cap's love for Sharon Carter. As far as a reaffirming acknowledgment of homosexuality from Captain America goes, that was enough for me.
All I can say for the upcoming 'Cap is Hydra' comics is that there are always reboots, and after this one there'll be another one that probably completely erases this one. Still, I can see your point about the Jewish creators. It's like making Superman an anti-Semite, which I'm sure the families of Siegel & Schuster would just love.

You can't convince me that Trump would be a good President either.
