My morning

My son got up before anyone else, turned on my computer, accessed guest, went online and found Nickelodeon so he could play a game. I didn't know he could do any of that.

So must shut french doors to office when I go to bed.

Also cleaned up office today (halfway) because it is a tip of mail and forms for this and that and sketches all over.

Will do best to finish some drawings today. (ties on hachimaki)

Amazing Art!

While researching Kiri-E traditional Japanese paper cutting, I came across this video of a modern Japanese artist Tomoko Shioyasu who takes giant sheets of tracing paper and cuts them with a razor blade from (I believe) the blown up image of a leaf. This creates a giant intricate lacework which is sandwiched between transparent material (probably plexiglass) and when light is shown through the cutting, it transforms the space it is in through light and shadow.

More casting news

Evangline Lily (Lost) is cast as the 'new' character in the Hobbit, a Mirkwood Elf named Tauriel, but Peter is quick to note - there will be no romance between this character and another famous Mirkwood Elf, Legolas. While some people are annoyed there is an addition of a new character at all, I'm gonna trust that Jackson will do a good job, and as the Hobbit is overwhelmingly male, still plenty of testosterone for us to enjoy. I liked Lily on Lost (though the show jumped the shark for me after season one)

But only one line acknowledging Benedict? Boo! (then again, it's been all over the news for days, I know that Ben and Martin will have a blast in NZ together. Maybe they can get matching tattoos!
