I was reading an artist friends blog about this today, Tumblr's really become a networking site to share picspam, sadly, a lot of fanwork is reposted with no credit, with kudos going to secondary posters, and those who alter art a bit on a filter.
This is why you now see my artwork with large and obnoxious watermarks.
And like Facebook, the 'like/reblog' removes the lovely interaction we fanartists and fanauthors thrive on, the comment!
In all of my blogging life, (since 03) I get far more feedback on fiction than art, (this was why I really stopped doing fan art for a few years)
so imagine my surprise when I did a poll a few years ago and realized most of my audience on lj was looking for art. After the poll I picked up drawing again, began doing colour and you see the result on your right.
You've heard this from me before, and doubtless you'll hear it again, support your fanartists by commenting on their work (this means they make more) and when you see their work reposted, let them know where the work is so the artist can see those comments, and ask the re-poster for linkage or for work to come down, as they choose.
