As of Jan 1,2011, NEW PRIVACY setting called "Instant Personalization" shares data with non-Facebook websites and is automatically set to "Enable."
Go to Account Privacy Settings
Applications and Websites
Instant Personalization
Edit Settings
and un-check "Enable"
I found three aps accessing my journal there and I never signed up for them!
BTW if your friends don't do this, they will be sharing information about you. COPY & REPOST!

but, i do use FB to stay in touch with far-flung friends and relatives. i do not use my real name, and keep info to a minimum. i treat it like a very public space, a directory. nothing much gets posted there.
