Incidentally, if you love roses

The Sherlock Holmes Rose.

"What a lovely thing a rose is! [...] Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers our desires, our food, are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its colour are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers."

available at Harkness (who developed this variety as St. Richard of Chichester)

Yeah, I'd say if anything, try a hybrid tea, but don't take my word for it.
There are "hardy" roses being bred commonly nowadays, so I'm sure you can find something ^_^

we have moose and bear but they usually don't come this far south into the cities, every once and a while, though.
