Guess who's playing Sherlock Holmes in CBS' modern update?

JONNY LEE MILLER

Yes, the man who got naked in Frankenstein with our own Benedict Cumberbatch.

Bweeeeheeeheee.

now can the writing live up to him? Good luck Jonny, I'm pulling for ya. (if not the show)

What what WHAT?!?!?! Ohhhh, that is so weird now. I wonder what Benedict thinks of this. Probably just happy for his friend and curious to see how it goes.

But still, I think the bar is so high that very little can stand up to Sherlock. I wonder if they'll do American accents, then...

Jonny Lee Miller is great, I'm not sure he physically meets my idea of Sherlock Holmes (but neither does RDJ) but the issue with casting is that he's linked with Benedict, with brings up SHERLOCK again, though I'm not sure you can escape the comparisons regardless.

It's the writing that will be key to a show, and thing is, it's only a pilot that we might never see if the show isn't picked up by CBS.

They should do something about the inspid title 'Elementary' though.

OMG, so the CBS thing's actually happening???? D:

They are scheduled to make a pilot, but it might never be seen if CBS doesn't pick up the show.

Ohhhh, I thought CBS was already in on this.
Hmmmm, I just wish American TV shows tried to be a bit more original and leave classics where they belong, with BBC. :/

Could be decent, though. 9_9

CBS is in on it, in that they approached Hartswood Films - which makes SHERLOCK - with a request to make an American version of their show, utilizing the particular traits of their program, Watson being a vet from Afghanistan, and blogging, and Sherlock texting, etc. But Hartwood said, no we aren't going to allow other versions of our programme in other countries (they already distribute Sherlock in 180 countries, including the US on PBS)

So CBS decided to hire a production company to do a modern version of Sherlock Holmes in New York, but Hartswood is watching, and if they feel that this new show will infringe on their intellectual property, they'll sue.

Plenty of pilots for shows are made every year, not all of them get picked up to be shown on networks.

wait, it might be 108 countries, I have to check on the figures! but it's already aired in Japan, the Japanese fan art is really fun to see. :D

Oh, gotcha!! =w=d

Wow, they'll really have to be careful not to step on Hartswood's toes, then.
If they can make it unique enough, they may do OK, but..... Man, how are they going to even compete with the brilliant Hartswood Films version?
But I am curious about the pilot now. LOL

I love Jonny Lee Miller but his track record with TV shows has not been very successful, such as Smith and Eli Stone. I think he does a much better job with films and theatre, but maybe that's just me.

I still think the show premise is just such a bad idea, even with JLM on board.

Yep, show premise just too far from Sherlock canon for me, having him in New York and not London.
