once was in London for the David Lean memorial service, he was with Omar Sharif and I tried to speak calmly, just saying hello and I was sorry for their loss, and they were both very sweet and asked me where I was from, 'Minnesota!' the second time my spouse and I went to his first book signing, and he was tickled, I think, by how many people showed up, the place was packed with lines out the door and down the street. He found out my spouse was Irish and then they were off chatting of this and that, so it was lucky we were among the first in line, I doubt the people after us got much time.

Thank you! I might very well been at a loss also if I encountered those two actors together :)

A dear friend of mine was in the Bahamas years ago when O'Toole was racing through the airport and brushed my friend causing him to drop a few belongings. O'Toole immediately turned around and apologized as he picked up the packages and returned them to him. My friend made a quip that had O'Toole laughing and they chatted as they walked toward their planes.
